Pre-Steamtown '07 Waffle Run

It was Saturday August 11, and very early, when 7 runners departed from Lansdale to drive to Scranton for the "Steamtown WaffleHouse Run of 2007". It was KennyBaby's idea... travel to Scranton, run the first 18 to 20 miles of the Steamtown Marathon course and then top it off with a huge breakfast (albeit late) of waffles and other Waffle House delicacies. So off we went, led by our group Sherpa, Chris - a Steamtown veteran several times over.  Puddlz, KennyBaby and Paul's friend ___ (forgot his name) look ready for the trip North.
Sherpa Chris was quite prepared - printouts of directions and walkie talkies for the drives  It was an uneventful trip North... a potty break or two (she's not called Puddlz for nothin!) and we're ready to carpool to the Forrest City High School.Puddlz looks ready to run and KennyBaby sets out the post-run cooler for the early finishers.
Next, all 7 runners pile into the mommy-mobile for the ~20 mile drive to Forrest City to meet Victoria (the 8th runner) and begin our adventure in running. The weather was great. Not too hot, not humid. The downhill in the beginning was as described, steep! Next we relaxed into the several mile decent toward Carbondale and our first meeting point. With several paces and one Sherpa, we planned to run a bit, stop to buy some water (and a peppermint patty or two) recollect all of the runners and continue on. At each stop we were greeted by some of the most friendly people in PA. Clearly they don't see many runners because we were peppered with questions and well wishes - even from passing cars through Carbondale. At last we were done. Back at the park where we'd left the cars and refreshments. We all made it. No one got lost and we'd accomplished our goal of experiencing the first 19 - 20 miles of the marathon course.

Now, on to the good stuff.... Waffles!

We're a smelly and hungry crew :
