2006 Montgomery County Race Series

The Ambler Area Running Club, in conjunction with Pretzel City Sports, is proud to announce the Montgomery County Race Series (MCRS) of 2006! The MCRS is a fun way to encourage runners to participate in more local races, while providing incentives to those runners who like to compete. There is no cost to runners beyond the individual races’ normal registration fees.

Too good to be true?  Not at all!  This is the first year for the series, so please be patient with us and we’ll do our best to keep you updated, and to run the series professionally and to everyone’s advantage. You can help us in that regard by giving us your feedback as we go along. We would appreciate any suggestions you have; please email us at mcrs@aarclub.com.)

The following is a basic outline of how the MCRS will operate:

1.   We’ll keep track of the races in which you participate.  If you run in at least nine (9) of the races in the series, your score will be tabulated for a possible award.  Your age category will be based on your age as of 12/31/2006.

2.   We will use a cross-country type scoring based on all participants (1st place gets 1 pt, 76th place gets 76 pts).  We will award prizes to the top three overall (M & F), top Masters (M & F), and top three runners in each age category (M & F) at the close of the series.   “What are the prizes?” you ask.  Patience! We’re still working on that, but we promise you’ll like them.

3.   If you participate in at least eleven (11) of the races, you will receive free entry into any one MCRS race of your choice in 2007, as long as you ran that particular race in 2006.

4.   Anyone who participates in thirteen (13) races in the series will be eligible for a drawing; the winner will be entitled to race in all MCRS races in 2007 without paying any registration fees!

5.   Even if you don’t win an award, you’ll see where you rank among Race Series participants in this area as we post standings throughout the year!

Requirements for participants:

  • When registering at a participating race, you must supply your birthdate and an email address where you may be contacted to update information.  If you absolutely cannot provide an email address as your contact information, a phone number will be acceptable.
  • Try to be consistent in the name you use on each entry form, and write clearly -- or register carefully online. (e.g. If your name is Charles Brown, please don’t alternate between C. Brown, Chuck Brown and Charlie Brown.)
  • Please let us know if you move or if you change your email address.
