The Ambler Area Running Club will hold its Spring General Meeting on Wednesday evening, March 21, at the Upper Dublin Township Building.

The free program is open to the public, and will feature Todd Wiley, the head coach of Eastern Pennsylvania's TNT (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training(r)) Triathlon program, speaking about Triathlon Basics.  This program coincides with many AARC members and local runners participating in Triathlons, including Upper Dublin's May 20 Sprint Triathlon/Duathlon/Aquabike event .

Todd has been a competitive athlete and coach for close to twenty-five years and will talk about triathlon basics, with a focus on biking and transition. Todd ran at the Division II level in collegiate track and cross country for Kutztown University, where he was a two time All-American. After graduating in 1994, he began his triathlon career. After winning the Duathlon World Championship and placing third over-all in the Triathlon World Championship in 1998, he was named triathlete of the year by USA Triathlon. He has completed ten marathons and nine Ironman events, including three at the World Championships in Hawaii. In addition to being a certified TNT coach, he is also a USA Triathlon Level 1 certified coach.  As TNT coach, he has trained over 700 athletes to successfully complete events from the sprint distance to the half-ironman distance with a hundred percent finish ratio.

The free program is scheduled to start at 8:00 at the Upper Dublin Township building.  It is open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to bring old running shoes for recycling!

AARC's mission is to develop and promote local running and racing, to provide running-related information and social activities, and to enhance training opportunities in a supportive atmosphere for runners of all abilities.  The club sponsors weekly fun runs and track workouts, supports a website for local runners, and designates different non-profit organizations as their race beneficiary for each of their races.  AARC also awards scholarships to graduating athletes at each of four local High Schools.
